Mercenaries Wings: The False Phoenix is the next adventure in the 'Mercenaries' series

There’s a new Mercenaries title headed to Nintendo Switch--Circle Entertainment and developer RideonJapan revealed that Mercenaries Wings: The False Phoenix is launching digitally sometime soon.

The team revealed the game’s logo today, but little else besides. The False Phoenix will resemble Mercenaries Saga Chronicles in gameplay, but will feature a separate story in the universe. Folks who’ve played Mercenaries Saga Chronicles will gain new perspective on the Mercenaries world, but newcomers will also be able to jump right in and enjoy the story.

If you’re unfamiliar with the series, Mercenaries Saga Chronicles is a bundle of three strategy RPGs (they bear some similarity to Final Fantasy Tactics) currently on the Switch eShop. Players move their characters (which subscribe to your various fantasy job classes - thief, mage, etc.) across a grid to take out enemies in tactical combat.

Mercenaries Wings: The False Phoenix is expected to arrive before the end of the year.
