Everyone loves survival games - well, everyone loves developing survival games, it seems. There's plenty of the ol' kill-craft-kill more games on the Switch already, but Tesla vs Lovecraft developer 10tons is entering the arena with its own title.

Titled Dysmantle, or DYSMANTLE if you insist on following their style guide, it's described as an open-world action RPG where you'll need to craft gear, build up a base, and kill monsters to survive. So far, so typical.

What the developers are hoping sets them apart is that 99% of objects in the world can be destroyed for resources - basically, if you see it, and it's not mission-critical, you can smash it into tiny pieces. Theoretically, you could destory almost everything in the world, and then live out your days in the smouldering silence. Nice!

Aside from bashing everything you see, there's also fishing, farming, and hunting to get your head around, so you've always got something to keep you occupied even if your crafting adventures aren't going so well. There's even the option to build up a post-apocalyptic zoo, which sounds like it would be a terrible idea to be quite frank.

There's a nice note on the game's website too - you're not just fighting to maintain the status quo. This is a game about upgrading, improving, and turning yourself into a killing machine. And smashing everything to smithereens, of course.

10tons hasn't suggested a release date yet, nor is there any indication the game will ever be finished. The team notes that it's kind of a big task, given the much smaller scope of their previous games, but that they're aiming to release by the end of the year "in one way or another".

In the meantime, why not check out Tesla vs Lovecraft on iOS? We thought it was pretty damn good!
