Diablo 3 cross-play is now 'a question of when, not if'
Game set for Switch release on November 2nd
Talking to Business Insider last week, a representative from Blizzard Entertainment said that the company is still looking into cross-play for Diablo 3 – in fact, they went so far as to say that cross-play is now "a question of when, not if".
This follows on from a continued push for cross-play and cross-console titles. Recent adopters of cross-play support include Epic's mega-hit, Fortnite.
No real indication of when we can expect cross-play in Diablo 3 was given, but we can perhaps assume that it's not too far off.
Diablo III Eternal Collection is set to release for Switch on November 2nd, and this new version will come with all previous expansions as well as the Adventure Mode.
The Switch port will also include some Nintendo-exclusive goodies, including a Ganondorf cosmetic set and a Cucco pet.
Cross-console play would certainly be an excellent addition to Diablo 3, and the fact that Blizzard believe it to be possible might suggest that the Switch version will be very comparable to the terrific PS4 and Xbox One ports, released back in 2014.
