New screens for anticipated iPhone pixel-art adventure Sword and Sworcery EP

Developer Capybara Games, artist SuperBrothers, and music man Jim Guthrie - the tremendous trio behind upcoming iPhone adventure Sword and Sworcery EP - have released some new screenshots and music from the highly anticipated game.

The mysterious snaps show our hero trying out his magical powers on some grazing sheep. “Inexplicable happenings in a gloomy secluded meadow,” is how the developer describes the scene. You can see the images in the screenshot gallery, above.

Capybara has chucked in some of Jim Guthrie’s ambient tunes to help set the mood.

The developer also wants you to know that it is prowling the show floor of Indiecade 2010, the annual hurrah to independently developed games. The team doesn’t have a booth, so you’ll have to spot Capybara president Nathan Vella and ask to have a go on his iPad. That’s totally not awkward in the slightest. More info here. Sword and Sworcery EP renders an epic adventure world in chunky, retro pixel-art. You solve puzzles, explore the landscape, and deck nasty critters in a Punch-Out! inspired battle screen.

It’s coming to iPhone, iPod touch and iPad before the year is out.
