Super Meat Boy developer Team Meat fuelled rumours of a Nintendo 3DS version of its indie hit at Game Developers Conference yesterday.

Twitter messages from the development duo last December had us salivating at the prospect of handheld meaty goodness. Now, Team Meat CEO Tommy Refenes has confirmed that the studio has a 3DS dev kit and may well put together a 3DS version of Super Meat Boy.

"We do have a 3DS dev kit. We will be working on something on the 3DS in the future." he said. "We don't know if it's going to be Meat Boy".

He went on, "If it feels right to do 3DS Meat Boy, we'll do 3DS Meat Boy. If it doesn't, we'll do something else, and we'll try and make it super-awesome."

The hard-as-nails platformer has already seen releases on PC and Xbox 360, although the WiiWare version was recently cancelled.

There was also a Super Meat Boy iPhone version, although it turned out to be a joke aimed at Apple.
