Vlambeer's Super Crate Box finally arrives on the New Zealand App Store for iPhone and iPad
Hitting the UK and US around midnight
Vlambeer's popular freeware PC title Super Crate Box - which was submitted to Apple at the beginning of December - has finally arrived on the New Zealand App Store, meaning it'll be available in the UK and US from around midnight this evening.
If you're unfamiliar with this unusual platformer, it's the original fast-paced, random-weapon platform title that inspired games such as Pocket Gamer Bronze Award-winning Muffin Knight.
Essentially, you have to avoid or destroy enemies, hop between various platforms, and collect as many crates as you possibly can. Each crate bestows a different weapon on you, which can either be really great (rockets) or incredibly annoying (a pistol).
Apple's social gaming network Game Center is supported, so your efforts can be uploaded to a number of global leaderboards.
AwardsSuper Crate Box has won various awards in the past from the likes of IGN, EDGE, and IndieGames.com, and was nominated for the 'Excellence in Design' award at the Independent Games Festival.
Head on over to the App Store after midnight this evening and you'll be able to grab it for 69p / 99c.
Unless you live in New Zealand, of course, where you lucky blighters can download it right now.
