Previously known for its work on the Capcom Mobile-published Li'l Pirates (a Pocket Gamer Silver awardee), Canadian studio IUGO has taken to the freemium iOS seas again with its latest release Sunshine Cruise Lines.

Based around a running a cruise ship, it has two main elements. The overarching one is to sail around the world, unlocking port destinations, gaining cash and rewards in the process.

However, it takes time to make these trips - you can choose different speeds, such as 30, 45 or 60 minutes - or use the game's hard currency, called Cruise Bucks, to complete them instantly. If you don't choose this option you switch to an in-boat cross section, in which you get to manage all aspects of the cruise with typical time management gameplay until you dock.

As you play the game and gain more currency, you get to customise your boat in terms of employing different crew members, changing the colour scheme and adding new facilities, shops and rooms.

And as well as its sharp art style, Sunshine Cruise Lines has a humorous storyline that encourages you to explore the world. You also collect and share postcards and trivia as you travel to the 50 ports. Social features are encouraged via Game Center and Facebook so you can see where your friends are travelling.

Sunshine Cruise Lines is free and out now for iPhone and iPad.

You can see how it plays in the following video.
