Sudoku may now be only the second most popular numerical game – as anyone who's seen Mitchell & Webb's 'Numberwang' will surely agree – but the Japanese puzzle still has millions of fans. And millions of mobile games, come to think of it.

Sudoku Master 3 has a feature setting it above the crowd, though. It ties in with the World Sudoku League website, allowing you to compare your sudoku-solving skills against the best players on the Web, as well as on mobiles.

The game is connected in other ways too. There's a new sudoku puzzle to download every day, which at the same time updates the high score tables to let you keep track of how your rivals are performing.

The mobile game is actually free when you sign up to a Gold membership to the website, which costs £1.99 for six months and gives you an unlimited number of web puzzles to play too.

In its own right, Sudoku Master 3 looks like a polished puzzler, but the connected features could make it a must-have for number-crunchers.

Meanwhile those who just want bare bones sudoko might check out the free version we pointed to last Friday.
