Street Fighter Alpha limbers up on mobile

Capcom Mobile has teamed up with Gameloft to bring its acclaimed brawler, Street Fighter Alpha, to mobile.

The Alpha variant of the popular Street Fighter series is set a number of years before the events of Street Fighter 2, so it feature a considerably altered line-up.

Old favourites such as Ken, Ryu and Chun Li remain, but in younger form.

Other differences include bold anime-styled graphics and the focus on an additional layer of special moves, called the Super Combo system.

In this mobile version the initial roster of 13 fighters has been reduced to six (the above-mentioned trio are joined by Sagat, Akuma and Guile's mate Charlie), which is understandable given the limitations of the format.

But the graphics look very impressive indeed, with nice chunky sprites and detailed backgrounds.

Still, the question, as always with mobile beat ‘em ups of this kind, is how well does it control?

Stay tuned for our review to find out the answer.
