Just released on Steam, Indygo is an indie game all about depression

| Indygo

Indygo is an interactive portrayal of one man’s descent into depression. Developed over two years by Pigmentum Games Studio based in Poland, the point-and-click narrative has been shown at a number of international gaming conventions, gaining award nominations along the way. It’s now available for you to pick up on Steam.

Playing Indygo, you step into the shoes of Thomas Perry, a troubled painter. Despite his creative work garnering critical acclaim, Thomas has withdrawn into a hermetic state, cooped up alone in his gloomy studio. In fact, the developers purposely prevent you exploring beyond this cramped apartment. As days slip into months, you discover more about Thomas’ state of mind and relationships through his melancholic narration, as well as letters to his girlfriend Anna and his doctor. You have to solve a number of object-based puzzles to progress, and decisions you make throughout will alter the ending, injecting some replay value.

Indygo’s charming hand-drawn graphics look almost like etchings, scratchy and monochrome, and there’s an aptly sombre piano soundtrack accompanying events. Everything is geared towards evoking the artist’s mood to help paint a portrait of depression.

You can now download Indygo for £4.79 from the Steam store. The game is available in seven languages: English, Polish, French, Italian, German, Spanish and Russian - although an audio translation is only included in the Polish and English versions so far.
