Fox n Forests is a platformer that's so deliciously retro I want to crack out my hair scrunchie
Coming soon to Nintendo Switch
Alright, lend me your ears guys and girls because this one's going to be a hoot. If Mr. Fox is fantastic for being crafty, then the bushy-tailed vulpes in Fox n Forests must be the woodland Rambo.
Fox n Forests is a 2D 16-Bit (ish) style action platformer and it looks oh-so-good. Originally funded on Kickstarter in 2016, 1,459 backers and Greenlit on Steam, it's not like it's come out of nowhere. From its art style to the performance and audio of the game's trailer, I'm looking forward to seeing more of it.
What's interesting here is the mechanics. Though it's got adventure/puzzle elements and the ability to take on enemies, your magic crossbow lets you switch between two seasons per level. This means you can tactically defeat your enemies by taking advantage of the seasons, as well as by using brute force.
As it says on its official website, inspirations for the game include Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts, Wonder Boy in Monster World, ActRaiser 2, Castlevania, and the Zelda series.
Fox n Forests will be coming to Steam, console, and Switch in Spring 2018.
