We've been looking forward to Firemint's Agent Squeak since it was announced at the start of the year, when CEO Rob Murray told Pocket Gamer alumnus Tracy Erickson, "We want this to be the Mario of the iPhone gaming world."

We wondered what had happened to it when the developer got acquired by EA. Thankfully, it's still on schedule for a summer release, although it's had a name change - Agent Squeak is now the rather more ordinary Spy Mouse.

Smelly nibbles

Still, that appears to be the only change, as you take control of agent squeak, the dashing and debonair undercover mouse.

Your goal is to outsmart ferocious felines, avoid traps, and crack fiendish challenges as you sneak, sprint, and work out strategies to reclaim every piece of cheese you can lay your paws on.

Drawn to cheese

Gameplay-wise, the action is based around line-drawing - as was Firemint's excellent Flight Control.

Tracy got to play some of the introductory levels at GDC, saying, "What's most impressive is the game's polish. Although its gameplay is simple, it feels fully realised. There aren't rough edges and there's a sensibility to the controls that make it instantly accessible."

Massive boss battles, scary cats engulfed in flames, crazy mechanical contraptions, and other creative challenge are also promised.

Still, Firemint is yet to release any screenshots or gameplay trailers, but you can check out this new teaser below.

Spy Mouse is planned for release for iPhone and iPad during the summer.
