Flight Control developer Firemint teases Agent Squeak iPhone game
Mouse about that, then?
Firemint has been developing iPhone games almost as long as the App Store has been around, establishing a reputation as a purveyor of peerlessly polished, critically acclaimed, and commercially successful games. Of which there have only been three: Flight Control, Real Racing, and Real Racing 2.
As foretold by Pocket Gamer's Rumour Miner, Firemint has announced its third iPhone gaming franchise at GDC 2011: Agent Squeak. Details are scarce, but here are a few keywords from the press release to help us work out what it's all about. 'Casual', 'outsmart', 'crack fiendish challenges', 'sneak, sprint and strategize', addictive gameplay', 'intrigue', 'stealth'.
So it's a casual game with strategy, stealth, and action elements. The aim is to recover stolen cheese.
I'll be honest: I was expecting something with a bit more gravitas than a casual game about a cartoon mouse. If it weren't a Firemint game it wouldn't scream 'potential'. However, it is, so it does.
'Select members of the media' will get to play it at GDC 2011, and you can be sure Pocket Gamer will be one of them. Look out for first impressions later in the week.
