Speedball 2 Evolution for iPhone gets St Patrick's Day update

Ever witnessed the sport of hurling? It's a traditional Irish game - a bit like hockey, but faster, more violent, and with the sticks held at head-height.

With that sort of sporting heritage, it was only a matter of time before an Irish team stepped up to play Speedball. Now, to celebrate St Patrick's day, that's exactly what's happening.

A recent update for Speedball 2 Evolution gives players a new St Paddy's themed career team and shield.

The Irish-themed team joins the regular roster of hulking, armoured sportsmen of the future in this loving iOS remake of an Amiga classic.

Speedball 2 Evolution managed to coax an impressive Silver Award from Pocket Gamer's Will Wilson at review. Version 1.2 looks to build on that, fixing a few minor bugs and packing an improved virtual D-pad.

Speedball 2 Evolution is out on the App Store now, priced £1.79 / $2.99/ €2.39.
