CES 2012: LG lifts lid on the Spectrum - 1.5GHz dual-core LTE Android handset out in US later this month

Update: Verizon Wireless has dropped us a line to say that you can now purchase the LG Spectrum from the Verizon Wireless online store.

LG has used its early-morning CES press conference to officially reveal its latest high-spec Android phone - the LG Spectrum.

The Spectrum is a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon Android mobile with 4G LTE connectivity, an 8mp camera, and a 4.5-inch ‘True HD IPS Display’ screen, as the company puts it.

The device ships with ESPN ScoreCenter pre-installed and has the exclusive on 720p content being pumped down the pitch and into your expensive smartphone.

Disappointingly, the Spectrum will ship with Gingerbread pre-installed rather than the latest version of Android (Ice Cream Sandwich). The phone will receive an update to ICS at a later date.

The LG Spectrum will be launching in the US on January the 19th and is available for $199 on a two-year contract with Verizon.
