Nokia releases Space Impact Meteor Shield for N97

Nokia has released Space Impact Meteor Shield, a new and innovative shooter, onto its Ovi Store.

The game’s only compatible with the company’s N97 and N97 Mini handsets, owing to its reliance on the handsets' digital compass facilities.

Developed by Rovio Mobile – of Bounce Boing Voyage and Angry Birds fame – the game places you in the gun turret of a space fighter, and tasks you with physically spinning around in order to take aim at meteors and alien enemies.

If that sounds like a recipe for seeing your breakfast again, then you should be suitably reassured to learn that the game won’t cost you a penny.

N-Gage fans might remember the name Space Impact from Space Impact Kappa Base – an excellent 2D shoot-‘em-up released early on in the ill-fated platform’s second iteration.
