N-Gage Space Impact game to get clan battles

With the average iPhone game being updated every 6.8 minutes (seemingly), N-Gage has seemed like an oasis of calm in comparison.

However, N-Gage games can be updated with new features - it's just Nokia hasn't shouted about it much. Until now. N-Gage shoot-'em-up Space Impact: Kappa Base is getting a new mode called Clan Battle.

It'll be tied into the World Battle online mode, which up until now has seen you taking on special levels and uploading your scores to online rankings. Clan Battle will let you set up teams of friends to compete.

Besides a special clan leaderboard, there'll also be messaging (both within clans, and to opponents), as well as the ability to replay your top ten performances.

It sounds great fun. The question is how existing Space Impact players will get the new version of the game, and whether the update process will involve wiping all their existing scores / progress. Hopefully not.
