Go Play: New details on N-Gage shooter Space Impact

We first wrote about Space Impact during last year's E3 show: it was an old-skool 2D shoot-'em-up set to bring connected features to Nokia's new N-Gage platform.

Well, it was one of the titles on show at Nokia's Go Play event, complete with new screenshots (above) and game details.

Such as? Well, it's not just any vertical 'shmup'. Customisation plays a big factor, with you able to tweak your ship's weapons, engines and generators in more than 400 combinations. Furry space dice, however, are sadly not included.

The game has ten enormous levels to shoot through (and that's plenty of shooting – they're packed with enemies while bullets whizz everywhere). Developer Method Solutions is promising more than 30 enemies in all, to provide variety.

Connectivity is also important to Space Impact, with an online World Battle Mode complementing the offline single-player option. You'll be able to join and form clans to compete against other players around the globe.

Space Impact Kappa Base is shaping up well, with the customisation and connectivity looking set to make it more than just another retro title.
