A good-looking physics-based puzzler, Space Balls from UK developer Sauce Digital is now pinging its way through the App Store for iPhone and iPod touch.

The pick-up-and-play action game has you firing balls with different attributes into increasingly complicated levels, to capture the various enemies that are dotted around.

However as they're usually hidden behind asteroids or protected by black holes, you have to use your limited ammunition of balls fairly carefully to get the job done.

Each level is also timed to provide added replayability.

In terms of controls, you man your launcher, which you can move laterally and vary where it's pointing. The power of your shoot is controlled with the usual start and stop method beloved of golf games.

Gravitational pull

There are 90 levels to work your way through, 35 different obstacles and enemies, and 16 types of space ball, which also act as your characters through the lightweight plot - you're trying to regain the Ultramegasphere which the evil Cuboids have split up and hidden in the Triangulon galaxy (ahem).

The soundtrack is provided by the Tokyo Pushers, and the game's optimised for iPhone 4 too.

Space Balls is out now, priced 99c, €0.79 or 59p. You can see how it plays below.
