New PSP firmware upgrade now available
Music, podcasts, Flash and TV: version 2.70 has it all
Sony today released the latest firmware upgrade designed to further enhance the multimedia functionality of its handheld.
Not directly games-related, version 2.70 offers the ability to playback most popular music file formats, stream podcasts straight to your PSP (or save them onto Memory Stick for later playback) and display Flash content within the internet browser.
In addition, the upgrade also prepares your PSP to act as a receiver for LocationFree TV, Sony's remote TV viewing service, which is due to arrive in Europe next month (see our previous news story
With this expanded music file compatibility – it now covers MP3, ATRAC, AAC and WMA – the PSP really is one of the most versatile portable music players out there, while the Flash functionality simply means you can enjoy website content featuring multimedia and interactive applications, resulting in an enhanced online experience.
You can download the latest firmware upgrade directly to your PSP browser via wi-fi, or from www.yourpsp.com as of today.
