It still not been released in Europe (1 September is PSP-day) but already the demand for PSP in Japan and the US - where it’s sold out - is causes Sony some (positive) problems. At the moment, there’s only one factory making PSP. Based in Japan, it can churn out 1 million units per month, but that’s just not enough. So the search is on for some extra capacity. Sony expects to be able double production of the vital computer chips used in PSP to 2 million/month but will need to expand the lines where PSP is actually assembled - something that will probably happen in the summer thanks to outsourced facilities in either China or Taiwan. So there should be plenty of PSPs to go round for the European launch...
