Europe will finally get its PSP on 1 September. Retailing at £179 or 249 Euros, it will be released in the same value pack - PSP, 32 MB Memory Stick Duo, headphones and wired remote, battery and charger - as in the US and Japan. There will be 29 launch games including WipeOut Pure, World Tour Soccer, F1 2006, Medievil Resurrection, Ridge Racer, Ape Escape, Everybody Golf, Pursuit Force and Fired Up. Other titles such as World Rally Championship, a new version of classic Lemmings, Namco Battle Collection and GTA: Liberty City Stories will follow in September.

As for movies, Sony Pictures is heavily backing PSP with launch titles including Hellboy, Spider-Man 2, SWAT, XXX and Resident Evil: Apocalypse. Another 20-odd titles will be released before the end of the year, with Sony Picture saying it will release titles in PSP’s UMD format at the same time as it releases the DVD versions. Films for other movie studios are also expected.

In terms of music, Sony has a set up a deal with Sanctuary Music, the world’s largest indie record label. Over 100 albums/video and recording of stadium shows will be available ranging from old faves such as Iron Maiden and Bob Marley to Kings of Leon and Natasha Bedingfield.
