We've been harping on about PS3 games coming to the PSP via remote play for ages and now finally, according to a report on IGN, it is actually happening. Sony has announced that Mainichi Issyo, a new free Japanese Playstation Store download for the PS3, can be played on the PSP via the remote play option from anywhere, provided you can connect your PSP to the internet.

Mainichi Issyo is a gently-paced game about watching and interacting with a cat called Toro (which first appeared on Sony's PocketStation back in 1999) as he goes about his daily business in his home. The title also contains a section called the Toro Station, which offers a daily update on Sony Computer Entertainment news.

During these broadcasts, Toro will occasionally ask you questions. If answered correctly, you get the chance to spin a roulette wheel, which rewards you with food that you can give to Toro.

Some of the timing-based mini-games included in Mainichi Issyo are not accessible via remote play on the PSP, probably due to lag issues. In fact, the title seems to demand notably little of the player in comparison to more action-packed PlayStation Network titles such Little Big Planet or Warhawk.

It's probably safe to assume the PSP will never play host to a frenetic game of Lair or Motorstorm. Yet we might just see more innovative games designed to specifically suit the remote play functionality, which could in the long-term be a more interesting concept anyway.

There has been no announcement yet about a release for Mainichi Issyo outside of Japan, or of any other PSN PS3 titles that will utilise the remote play option. As always we will be keeping a look out for any fresh news about this potentially exciting PSP feature – and wondering which PSP rumour will come true next?
