Sony announces PSP Online Store

For a while it looked as though we might have to wait until the next Ice Age (which, to be fair, by all accounts isn't as far as you'd think) but Shacknews is reporting that at the company's Gamers' Day held this week in San Diego, Sony Computer Entertainment America confirmed the belated online store for PSP is coming.

"I think the advent of a long awaited and quite frankly long overdue ability to deliver a downloadable service for the PSP will help us out a great deal," admitted SCEA president Jack Tretton. "Hopefully we'll have it out there by the fall."

Whether the autumn deadline is one applicable to only US PSP owners wasn't made clear. But then, no other details were given so we're back to waiting. Which, to be honest, we're kind of used to.

Expect plenty more updates from the Gamers' Day over the next few days, incidentally, starting with our preview of God of War: Chains of Olympus.
