Well, we always thought ceramic white was a little girly

Women, pink pounders and married men in touch with the sensitive side rejoice – Sony is releasing a limited edition PSP console in pink.

Think we're being patronising? Don't blame us, it was Sony what did it.

"The Pink PSP launch is much more than just launching a new colour. It is about a confident and powerful attitude for young women," said Stephane Hareau, PSP senior brand manager at SCEE. "The association with Pink will enable PSP to push new boundaries."

So, that's two justifications in there. One that powerful women are drawn to the colour pink (presumably they're being ironic), and two that an association with US star Pink will draw women to the PSP.

We're not convinced by either.

Anyway, part of the package will include an exclusive UMD of goodies including videos, live footage and interviews of her Pinkness. More content will be available (whether you buy the Pink PSP or not, as best we can tell) from the yourpsp.com website.

The Pink PSP will go on sale on October 27th for £169, including all the usual gubbins.

Unlike when Nintendo reworked DS for DS Lite, we don't think we'll be reviewing the pink version. Whisper it, but we've a feeling it's just, well, a lick of paint. Perhaps a few more mass-appeal games might better hit the mark(et), Sony?
