Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray dated for August 15th, priced at £350 on Play.com
Network operators likely take the sting out of this tale
Sony Ericsson has seemingly taken over the title of ‘most prolific Android manufacturer’ from HTC in recent months, thanks to the almost un-ending stream of Xperia-branded devices.
The very latest to get a solid release date is the 1GHz single-core Xperia Ray - the little brother of the Xperia Arc and Neo, with a screen measuring in at 3.3 inches.
Despite its diminutive stature when compared to the Arc, it still possess the Bravia Engine for its bright display, Android Gingerbread, and an Exmor R-powered 8.1MP rear-facing camera for taking sneaky snaps.
Play.com has, as is its normal tactic, come flying out of the gates and pinned a price tag of £349.99 on an unlocked model, which suggests it’ll be more likely to be free on £20-25 per month two-year contracts (the mid-range) when it becomes available from the UK network operators.
