It's not your typical game set-up by any means. So Blonde's plot begins with a 17-year-old girl called Sunny - a blonde one, as you might have guessed - falling overboard when a thunderstorm hits the ship she's cruising around the Caribbean in with her parents. When she regains consciousness, she's been washed ashore on the beach of an island with no one in sight.

If you recognise that plot, it's probably because you've played, or at least heard of, So Blonde when it was released on PC earlier in the year. Now though, dtp Entertainment has announced it will be publishing a new version of the game on DS, as well as Wii.

The difference is that this time, instead of finding herself in a beautiful Caribbean setting, Sunny is washed up on the dark side of the Forgotten Island which is complete with black sand and rugged rocks. While the game's heroine is the same, as are some of the incidents on the island, the story has been completely re-written for DS.

What does remain the same however is that the writer of the story is Steve Ince, one time Revolution Software employee and man partly responsible for the Broken Sword games. Which should be enough to get any self-respecting adventure fan excited.

Furthermore, So Blonde's controls have been adapted specially for the DS touchscreen - so the pointing and clicking controls are just as they should be. The game's party mini-games too apparently will benefit from the DS controls.

So that's all good news. The only downside? So Blonde currently has a vague release date of 2009, so we have a while to wait for it. We'll keep you updated from now until then on its progress.
