The newest iteration of classic munch-'em-up is on a different level… literally

Another new N-Gage game on show at Nokia's Go Play event today was Snakes Subsonic, which is the latest attempt to drag Snake kicking (well, whatever snakes do instead of kicking) and hissing into the 21st century.

At first glance, it looks a lot like previous N-Gage game, Snakes. However, one difference is that the action now takes place on different levels – you can go up ramps and down tunnels. Going up a steep incline and over the top makes you feel a bit sick (that's a compliment, by the way).

Music will also be more intrinsic to the gameplay, bringing to mind games like Rez or Lumines on other platforms. We didn't quite get to the bottom of what this will mean, other than the music will be affected by how well (or badly) you're playing.

Details: there are 40 levels split into four elements (earth, air, fire and water – no, cider isn't a fifth one). In addition, another 20 levels will also be downloadable from N-Gage Arena, raising the possibility of more extras in the future.

Four-player online play is promised, although it'll apparently be more like ghost racing than live, head-to-head snakey action.

The demo version of Snakes Subsonic we've toyed around with looks and plays great, so it should be one of the more popular N-Gage launch titles this November.
