Okay, we'll fess up, this story has nothing officially to do with The Legend of Zelda or Nintendo. However, it does involve an iPhone app that lets you play the Ocarina.

We think Link would approve, especially if he watched the video below...

The app is the work of a company called Smule, and has just gone on sale on the App Store for less than a quid.

It synthesizes sound in real-time based on your gestures, including wind input, tilt and finger placement over four virtual holes on the on-screen display.

It uses Smule's ninja audio engine, and is the fourth app released by the company.
