With the flood of iPads and iPad apps and games starting to swirl around North America like a muddy river of excitement, some developers are already finding it as difficult to gain exposure as they did with iPhone.

One such is Mike Kasprzak from Sykhronics Entertainment, who's released his neat three mode puzzle game Smiles for iPad.

Planned as a $4.99 game, Smiles HD has actually been released as a free game just for the 3rd April.

On the 4th, it will be back up to $4.99.

This type of promotion has proved very popular on the App Store recently, with sites such as FreeAppADay boosted the chart performance of games.

And indeed, there's now also a FreeiPadAppADay site, which will be releasing a free iPad game or app every day, while versions of high profile iPhone games including Harbor Master HD have also been released as free games for iPad.
