Streets of Rage 4's mobile port will receive multiplayer support later this month

Playdigious’ mobile port of the legendary beat-em-up brawler Streets of Rage 4 has announced it will be adding in the heavily requested multiplayer mode on September 13th. This update will allow you to play with friends online, taking you to the streets of Wood Oak City to save the citizens using nought but your fists and skills.

In case you haven’t heard of it, Streets of Rage 4 is, of course, the 4th in a long-running line of beat-em-up arcade games that have remained a permanent landmark in gaming history. It sees you and your friends picking a character from the tight but very solid roster and taking to the streets where you’ll beat up hundreds of nameless goons while utilizing a variety of skills per character.

The gameplay loop has remained the same since the first entry years ago and is still so very engaging to this day. It’s simple at its core, but the combat has a good bit of depth once you dig your teeth into it, so there’s plenty to master and learn, especially on the hardest difficulties. Add in how different each character plays, and there’s enough variety on display here that it could take you quite some time before you fully master the entire roster.

Given how essential the multiplayer component of the series has been since it launched back then, it was a bit of a bummer to see the mobile port of Streets of Rage 4 release without support for it. But now, at long last, we will finally be able to team up with our partners in crime to cause a ruckus in the city!

If you’d like to get in on the action with your pals yourself, you can purchase Streets of Rage 4 for only $8.99 at either of the links below! In the meantime, feel free to take a gander at the official website to see some screenshots and trailers!
