Nokia promotes the N8 with Pamela Anderson film competition

You know a handset manufacturer means business when it decides to deploy The Pam.

The N8 is Nokia's latest and greatest attempt to give LG, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, and the other manufacturers of mid- to high-end handsets something to think about. It comes with a 12MP camera, connections for 720p video and Dolby 5.1 surround sound, and a swanky new Symbian^3 operating system.

The N8 is due out on October 8th, though it may be available through pre-order as soon as September 23rd.

In a bid to promote the N8, Nokia has recruited the considerable charms of erstwhile Baywatch actress Pamela Anderson and the lesser known Ed Westwick.

Nokia is running two separate competitions in which you can win a role alongside Pamela or Ed in a short film called The Commuter, written and directed by a duo called the McHenry Brothers, to be filmed in London on the 20th and the 26th of September respectively.

Click here for Pamela, and here for Ed.

In case you're wondering what you might be letting yourself in for, the McHenry Brothers's only credit is the unreleased animated film Jackboots on Whitehall, a Team America-esque WWII spoof shot with puppets and boasting a stellar line-up that includes Ewan McGregor, Timothy Spall, Rosamund Pike, Dominic West, Alan Cumming, Richard E. Grant, and Stephen Merchant.
