NetEase’s extremely popular Dead By Daylight adjacent Identity V is all set up to host its next big collaboration, this time with the popular survival horror game Project Zero II: Crimson Butterfly. This crossover includes new cosmetics to grab, new event-specific tasks, and more!

Let’s clear up one thing first, as I’m sure many are likely questioning what Project Zero even is. Well, it’s quite likely that you’ve heard of it by a different title: Fatal Frame. Fatal Frame is a world-famous Japanese survival horror franchise that includes a ton of Japan-based folklore and primarily centres around ghosts that you do battle with by wielding a camera.

Crimson Butterfly is the second in the franchise, and sees protagonists Mio and Mayu explore an old decrepit mansion and uncover the brutal history behind the place over the course of the game.

Identity V seeks to emulate bits and pieces of Crimson Butterfly by bringing in three new cosmetics for players to use that will transform one of the survivors into Mio and one of the hunters into Sae Kurosawa, one of the primary antagonists of Project Zero. Two of these cosmetics are full costumes, with one being for the Perfumer Survivor and the other being for the Geisha Hunter specifically.

The first costume is Mio Amakura, which will simply make you look like Mio from Project Zero. The other is a new look for the Geisha Hunter, which will transform her into the antagonist of Project Zero, Sae Kurosawa. Both of these are fully realised costumes and they do not skip out on any details, truly putting the Project Zero characters into that quirky Identity V art style and looking quite cool in the process.

There will also be event-specific tasks going on during the duration of this crossover that will see you taking pictures in-game with a new item to earn profile portraits and portrait frames.

So, whether you're a fan of Identity V or the Fatal Frame/Project Zero franchise itself, there’s plenty of content here for you! If you’d like to give it a go, check out Identity V for free at either of the links below!
