They say that great minds think alike, although it might be stretching the sentiment somewhat when it comes to iPhone games.

Still, the latest game from Korean publisher Com2uS - Slice It! - bears a passing resemblance to iSlice from indie studio Pacardi Studios (published by Appular in June).

Not that I'm suggesting any skullduggery. The goal of the two games is rather different, and Com2uS says its game is the result of an internal competition it holds every year.

In iSlice, you have to quickly slice up shapes within which balls are bouncing around, whereas in Slice It! you have to slice shapes up into equal parts.

Sharp edged

I'd suggest Slice It! is the more professional product, too: what else would you expect from one of the biggest mobile publishers?

Like many similar brain-training style experiences such as crosswords or Sudoku, you work at your own pace, with each shape successfully cut into equal areas resulting in a more difficult example for you to tackle.

You're also marked on the evenness of your division, with the game working out the areas to a tenth of a per cent.

The game ships with 60 puzzles, with another forty due in two planned updates over the coming weeks. Indeed, you're cheekily asked to give the game a five star iTunes review to speed up their arrival when you try to select them in-app.

Available as a universal app for iPhone and iPad, Slice It! is out now, priced 99c, €0.79 or 59p.

You can see how it plays in the following video.
