While the RPG is a genre that finds itself currently relatively undersubscribed on PSP, things are rapidly changing. Aficionados will no doubt be counting the days until a veritable deluge of Final Fantasy titles arrives but in the meantime, titles such as Silverfall could get something of a chance to shine.

Now, Silverfall on PC (its original format) was a decent, though hardly exceptional, action RPG. Facing far lesser competition on Sony's handheld, however, it could emerge as a considerably stronger proposition.

Set in a fantasy environment populated by a variety of creatures, the game sees the player take sides between two great powers in a world where forces of nature and technology collide.

Apparently, choices made in-game have a direct effect on a character's destiny, while their evolution is said to be free from the restrictions you occasionally encounter in this type of game.

Related to this is the comprehensive level of customisation, featuring more than 80 character attributes and which contribute to the tactical approach required for combat against the 35 creature types and seven bosses you'll encounter.

Multiple gameplay and combat choices are promised (nature, technology, magic, melee and ranged) and obviously there's items to collect, too, in the form of rewards and treasure through active exploration of your surroundings.

A head-to-head multiplayer mode for up to four adventurers as well as a two-player cooperative option complete the package.

Silverfall is due this June.
