Submarine game from HandyGames surfaces

Silent Hunter released on mobile

Serving on a submarine can’t be much fun. The cramped conditions, the stale air, working in extremely close proximity to a bunch of sweaty blokes for hours on end.

Come to think of it, it sounds rather like the Pocket Gamer office.

When you take a look at what a submarine can actually do, though, the gaming potential becomes evident. Stalking your battleship prey from below, popping out of the water at unexpected moments, listening out for those dreaded sonar bleeps. It’s tense stuff.

That just about sums up the appeal of Silent Hunter, HandyGames’s new mobile sub game. In a collaborative effort with AMA and Ubisoft, the game allows you to, “Take on the role of a German captain lieutenant and command a silent hunter above and below water.”

That entails 15 operations full of diverse mission goals, like silent running, salvage operations or sinking of tonnages. You can operate at three diving depths for battle above and below water, and there’s also be a choice of upgrades for both ship and crew.

Keep you eyes fixed on the sonar for our review.
