You can't help but love Shaun the Sheep. Out of all Aardman Animation's clay characters, his slightly dim looking face is probably one of the most appealing. And now the loveable sheep is set to star in his very own DS-exclusive game. It's about time, too.

The game enables players take control of Shaun on a mission to find the rest of his missing flock before the farmer returns home. Other familiar characters will crop up to help, including Shirley, Timmy and Bitzer, and fans will no doubt recognise some of the game's locations, such as the junk pile, sheep pool and circus tent.

As well as collecting lost sheep, there are bonus items to find, eight unlockable mini-games and eight collectable slide puzzles. Levels have hidden areas to find and there are also sub-games which showcase bits of the Shaun the Sheep TV series – such as saving Timmy from the circus high wire.

There are three play modes, too: Story mode, Mini-game mode and Collection mode. You can't there's not much going on down on this farm.

D3 Publisher is taking care of development and a spokesperson has said it's working closely with Aardman to ensure the personality and humour of the series and its characters come across in the game. They also say the game will appeal to players of all ages, so it's not going to just be one for the kids.

Which is just as well because the screenshots are looking good. If D3 can bring the Aardman character to DS, we'll be happy. Shaun the Sheep is due for release this autumn across Europe and the US.
