Walk (and shoot) like an Egyptian

Ancient Egypt was an awesome period in history with stories of explorers, curses, disgusting burial rituals and cruel slavery - everything a 9 year-old boy wants to hear stories about - only real.

Shadow Edge, surely risking some curses of its own with the title, is hoping to reignite some of that imaginative ancient Egyptian fire by combining tombs, shooting and mummies together to create something that would have made my 9 year-old self’s head explode.

Tomb raiding

Set during 1940s, Shadow Edge is a dual-stick shooter set in the dark, dank tombs of the pharaohs. Armed with a torch and a variety of weapons, including crossbows and guns, our apparently nameless hero is out to recover an artifact that grants immortality and thereby turn the war in the allies favour.

Along the way there’s plenty of lighting up burial chambers and blasting waves of scarabs, scorpions and bandaged old kings. Unlike in real life though, these ones appear to fire fireballs and drop health packs when killed, as opposed to lie still for hundreds of years, slowly decaying.

Shadow Edge will be available for iPhone and iPod touch at an undisclosed date, but in the meantime why don’t you peer-amid the moving images below and see for yourself.
