Swedish developer Jadestone is perhaps best known (at the moment) for its N-Gage detect-'em-up Dirk Dagger and the Fallen Idol. However, the company is developing for iPhone too.

We've bagged a first look at its first iPhone game Scarab Solitaire, and we're very impressed.

What's that? There are a million solitaire games on the App Store so what sets this one apart? Good question.

The game sports Jadestone's signature high production values, with neat touchscreen controls and suitably atmospheric music.

It focuses on one solitaire variant - Scarab - which involves moving cards to a pile to reveal three 'scarab' cards at the top.

As a casual title developed as a side-project by the Jadestone team, it's great fun. We do wonder if its focus on one variant only may hold it back, given the numerous versions seen in other solitaire iPhone games.

Still, it's great to see Jadestone - one of the most creative and innovative developers in the mobile industry - training its sights on iPhone.

Scarab Solitaire is due to go on sale in the App Store soon.
