Samurai: Way of the Warrior HD sneaks onto iPad

Madfinger Games has supersized its stylised manga-like hack ‘n slash, Samurai: Way of the Warrior, from the itty bitty portable iPhone to the large screened iPad.

All your samurai sword-swinging action is accomplished by judicious touchscreen stabs and swipes, allowing you to evade deadly attacks and unleash blood geysering hacks just by swiping your digits across the tablet’s giant screen.

Your goal is to simply eviscerate, decapitate, and generally maim all on screen enemies to unlock the gate to the next stage. Rinse, lather, repeat until you meet the evil Daimyo Hattoro, who’ll you slice up like cheddar. All this gruesome, bloody violence is pulled off against a backdrop of beautiful feudal Japan.

In between stages, you’ll catch up on important storylines through comic book panels. And you can always duck out of the narrative to spar with other warriors in the iPad exclusive ‘deadly dojo’.

Once you’re done lacerating limbs and separating enemies from their vital organs, you can tell all your pals about your exploits on Facebook, Twitter, or the in-game leaderboards and friends list.

Samurai: Way of the Warrior HD is available now for iPad at the introductory price of £2.99 / $4.99 / €3.99.
