Pinch punch, first of the month, and all that. November 1st marks the official launch day of Samsung’s seven inch Android tablet, as the much anticipated Galaxy Tab goes on sale.

The Galaxy Tab supports the latest Adobe Flash Player 10.1, as well as wifi, Bluetooth 3.0, full HD video and two cameras – a 3.0MP camera with LED Flash and a 1.3 MP front facing camera.

Still, as Steve Jobs' has also pointed out, it has 45 percent less screen area than the iPad, which could be an advantage or disadvantage depending on your personal preference.

Second mover advantage?

The plan is for the device to be available on all major UK networks, and be on the shelves in retailer such as the Carphone Warehouse and Dixons.

Engadget has already spotted the device for sale at the Carphone Warehouse under a variety of pricing plans.

You can get it for as a cheap as £99.99 if you pay £40 a month for two years, or cough up a little bit more with a £499.99 device and £10 a month. You'll also be able to buy it on its own, with no contract, for £529.99.

The future's smaller

Orange UK has sent over its pricing plans too.

“The device will feature a customisable Orange home screen,” the popular UK carrier tells us, “which will provide users with quick-link access to great Orange apps including Orange Wednesdays, Orange Maps and Your Orange.”

It's selling the device for £529.99, or offering it from £499 to £529 on contracts ranging from £10 a month to £5 a month.

And, there should also be an iPad-style wifi-only version of the device in future, which should be a whole lot cheaper whenever it goes on sale.
