iPad rival out in a month

Samsung UK announces Galaxy Tab for November 1st

Samsung has revealed that its Galaxy Tab tablet will be released in the UK on November 1st. This represents a bit of a slip from the previously expected September release date.

The 7-inch Android-powered device will be available “across all major networks, key high street and out of town electrical retailers and online such as Carphone Warehouse, Dixons Store Group and T-Mobile.”

No pricing information has been revealed, with Samsung simply announcing that “the Galaxy Tab will be available on a range of attractive price packages, making it as widely accessible as possible to all consumers.”

The Galaxy Tab is the first serious competitor to Apple’s iPad, and has the advantage of being more compact, almost half the weight and capable of acting as a phone.
