The smartphone craze is enthusing all kinds of developers to get back into creating games for systems that haven't seen a great deal of support lately, like this new virtual jigsaw game for the Symbian S60 handsets and Windows Mobile powered devices.

Spb Puzzle offers a realistic digital interpretation of a jigsaw puzzle, complete with haptic feedback, realistic animation and graphics and even active lighting and anti-aliasing effects.

"With this brand new release, we aimed to create an authentic puzzle game with excellent graphics, clearest possible controls and navigation, and an unlimited number of puzzles to solve," says Nikita Glushkov, Spb Puzzle product manager.

"Spb Puzzle gives users the freedom to work on even the most complicated puzzles in the comfort of their own phone, any time, any place. Spb Puzzle also keeps players assured that not a single puzzle piece will ever get lost, or that a nearly completed puzzle will ever get ruined by mishap."

The game allows you to create a custom puzzle from any image or photo, and will provide free jugsaw puzzle pack updates alongside the 10 pre-installed games to keep Spb Puzzle fresh.

It's available now for Symbian S60 and Windows Mobile touchscreen handsets, so head on over to the official page and check it out.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
