Say ‘I love you’ with a big ball of tacky junk
The Katamari franchise has to be one of the most surreal, obscure and strangely entertaining concepts we’ve ever seen, which makes it perfect for the bizarre non-holiday of Valentine’s Day.
To celebrate the peculiar giving of flowers and chocolates to people who you probably ought to be showing affection all the year round, but don’t, Namco is releasing a special romance themed Rolling with Katamari level for the mobile.
"The great thing about mobile games is that content can be added at anytime via the carriers' networks," said Scott Rubin, some sappy ponce at Namco Networks. "This new Valentine's Day-themed level is packed with unexpected tokens of affection to roll up, adding to the fun of the game."
He’s right about adding easily to mobile content though, and we genuinely hope this is a concept that catches on - after all, it’s become common practice on the iPhone’s App Store, and it’d be great to see mobile developers follow suit.
Of course, this happens to be a US only release for the time being, but that doesn’t stop you taking a teddy bear, love heart, box of chocolates and a bunch of flowers, stomping them into a big ball then shooting them into orbit to tell your chick how much you dig her.
Nothing says devotion like blasting pink junk into outer space.
