ngmoco clarifies Rolando’s App Store removal

Perhaps it’s only a storm on a touchscreen, but ngmoco’s decision to remove the original Rolando prior to the release of its sequel - as indeed occurred with its Topple games - has kicked up fiery comments both on Pocket Gamer and other iPhone gaming websites.

Now ngmoco has clarified the situation, both in terms of a comment posted on touchArcade, which was further highlighted by a tweet from CEO Neil Young that the company was "listening" to the complaints.

The statement is:

“Basically, we want the spotlight on Rolando 2 when it hits the App Store. We're not discontinuing support for Rolando, we're just discontinuing sales. And Rolando may return to the App Store in the future, but if and when it does we'll want to include Plus+ [ngmoco's social networking platform] support for it.”

So there. The decision stands - presumably to ensure the people searching for “Rolando” on iTunes are pointed towards the more expensive sequel, not the cheaper original. But the possibility for an updated remains. Unlikely though we reckon.
