Rocket Racing preparing to wipe out on PSP Minis
Sub-stratospheric thrills and spills
Developer Halfbrick is continuing to pour love and attention on PSP Minis this week, having just announced its second mini Sony game in two days.
Rocket Racing is considerably different to Age of Zombies, however. This is a grand prix racing game in a similar style to the classic WipEout, only from a top-down perspective (Super Sprint style).
The snaking tracks are suspended in the sub-stratosphere, offering a low-friction racing mechanic with a unique 'grinding' technique allowing you to fire off your rockets against the walls for an extra boost.
Rocket Racing also features a four-player asynchronous mode, in which drivers take it in turns to beat each other's scores. It still doesn't quite make up for the lack of multiplayer on PSP Minis, but it's something.
The game has been pegged for a February release in the US at $4.99 (no details on worldwide availability yet) and will also be playable on the PS3. Check it out.
