A new, episodic way to buy Leon's life

Resident Evil 4 for Beginners teaches you how to kill zombies on iPhone

I'd have called it Resident Evil 4 Beginners, me.

What Capcom has done here is chop up Resident Evil 4's body, and offer it in smaller, bite sized chunks that it hopes will be easier to digest.

Resident Evil 4 for Beginners asks you to buy the first two chapters for 59p/99c, which also includes a new tutorial, Mercenary Mode, and Coin Shoot game. Then, if you like stalking through the backwaters of plague-ridden Eastern Europe, you can buy the subsequent chapters as five separate in-app purchases.

The original full version is still available as a separate product at £3.99, so depending on how much Cappy is asking for each chapter, this could actually work out a little cheaper.

If each chapter is 59p and there are six altogether (including the original 59p purchase for the first two chapters) that only runs up £3.54 - and if it turns out you get bored half way through you've made an even bigger saving.

It seems a tad redundant on the surface, but Resident Evil 4 for Beginners will definitely be an interesting experiment in rejuvenating an App Store game. Let's see how it performs.

Your thoughts on a postcard, please.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
