With so many mobile games focusing on killing stuff (aliens, terrorists, Noel Edmonds), it's nice to see a game with a nobler aspiration.

Refugee sees you playing Aissa, a refugee fleeing from a drought, who has to cope with violence, and lack of water and food. It's based on the challenges faced by real refugees, and has been released by Spanish developer Unkasoft in collaboration with charity Intermón Oxfam.

"With this video game, we intend to inform the population on a reality which is often forgotten," says Irene Milleiro from Intermón Oxfam. "When it takes place in real life, it is not a game at all."

Money from sales of the game will go to support Oxfam's humanitarian aid programmes in Chad, and the game ends with an opportunity for players to ask the Spanish government to do more to help in the region.

We don't think it's coming out here in the UK, but wouldn't it be nice to see some mobile games publishers here working with charities on these types of campaigns?
