THQ Wireless is beavering away on Red Faction II, the sequel to its mobile action-adventure title, which was itself based on a console first-person shooter game. Got that? Never mind. All you need to know is that Red Faction II will be a top-down game with lots of guns and lots of enemies to kill. Simple really.

The plot revolves around a bunch of revolting Mars-based miners (revolting as in rebellious, not smelly or fiercely right-wing). You play the hero, Sekt, who has to shut down the generators that power the mines in order that your comrades can take control and escape the red planet.

THQ is promising varied missions and an immersive storyline, plus some spangly 3D touches to tart up the top-down view. The game's expected to be out in a couple of months.
