Those who pirate games often think of themselves as poor individuals versus wealthy corporations.

But as more games have an online component, pirates can have a significant impact on the enjoyment of legitimate gamers.

That's the situation happening right now with the Android version of Polarbit's Reckless Racing, which has been removed from the Android Market as the developer works to increase its server capacity where the application fetches game data and downloaded it to the SD card.

Unsurprisingly, it's really not happy about those people who haven't bought the game and are breaking it for everyone else.

Walk the plank

"In addition to the many legitimately sold copies of Reckless Racing that are accessing our data servers, there are also regrettably cracked versions of the game floating around since a day or two," says Polarbit's Tommy Forslund.

"These get the game data from exactly the same servers as the legitimate versions, further adding to the difficulties experienced by those of you who have paid for your copy of the game.

"The number of users running pirated copies will most likely continue to grow, creating an unsustainable situation and forcing us to employ additional security measures. This will regrettably delay Reckless Racing's reappearance on Android Market a little further.

"We hope to have the new servers up and running, along with the updated build on Android Market by Tuesday afternoon, CET."

Reckless Racing is available now for iPhone priced $2.99, €2.39, or £1.79. The Android version will be available again tomorrow.
